Implementation Success Factors
We have supported over 1,000 implementations of Beekeeper and as a result, we have been able to identify what works well. To ensure that the implementation of Beekeeper is a success, we recommend considering the following factors:
Create Value & Operational Use Cases
Employees use Beekeeper when it makes a positive difference for them. Therefore, we need to understand them well, get to know their processes, tools and communication needs and recreate a solution on the platform that is relevant to them and makes their daily work easier. The greater the added value we offer them, the more intensively they will use Beekeeper.
Involve Leadership
As we mentioned before, the implementation of Beekeeper is a change management project. And change projects only work if you have leadership on board at all levels of your organization. The top management level will be important to give the project legitimacy and strategic weight, but also including other management levels, especially the lowest management level, will be important because they are the ones that communicate most operationally with the employees that you are trying to reach. Once your frontline managers are bought in and engaged, their teams will start to use Beekeeper as well.
Project Planning
Managing multiple tasks, projects and priorities is a challenge in every organization. That said, in order to efficiently complete the Beekeeper implementation project, it is critical to find enough time for it, and to keep yourself and others accountable along the way. It is important that the project is well planned and that responsibilities are clear. In this regard, we have several project plan templates and resources are available to you to help you map out your project.
Clear Project Communication
Employees need to understand why Beekeeper is being introduced but also what will change and when. What does this change mean for them? What are our goals with Beekeeper? What added value does Beekeeper bring to our business? It is important to have answers to these questions so you are prepared to respond when your teams ask.
Motivate & Involve Employees
Compared to other tools, Beekeeper is not only a top-down, but also a bottom-up and peer-to-peer instrument. The platform comes to life when employees get involved and participate at all levels. As such, we need to involve them and exemplify a spirit and culture on the platform that encourages them to to share with each other and inspires their continued engagement. This is done with participation from champions from different locations, departments, functions and hierarchy levels, which have to be defined and involved accordingly.
Create Success Metrics
In order to be able to measure the success of the implementation project, specific goals and success metrics must be defined at the beginning of the project. Also in a second phase (after the rollout) it is important that new goals are defined to ensure that Beekeeper generates more and more value in your business over time.
