Addressing concerns
Most of your employees will love Beekeeper. Nevertheless, in every change project there are people who are critical of change. In this video, you'll learn about the typical concerns and how to respond to them:
I am against social media…
Beekeeper is not a social media tool, but our frontline success system. Though our technology is deliberately based on social media to make it as simple and intuitive as possible for the commercial staff, because they already know similar features from their private use. So it is possible for them to understand Beekeeper without any training effort. However, Beekeeper is about business-relevant content and processes that should make the employees' daily work easier - and not about cat videos ;-). A corresponding communication culture on the platform should be exemplified so that employees also adopt it.
I don't want Beekeeper on my private mobile phone…
Beekeeper can be used not only on cell phones, but also on various other devices (e.g. computer, tablet, etc.). Of course, it would be nice if employees could download the app to their personal devices as well. That way, they would always have everything they need in their pocket. Here, however, we do not recommend forcing employees, but rather making the platform as relevant and attractive to them as possible so that they see the added value and download it voluntarily. Alternatively, of course, it is also possible to provide them with computer stations (kiosks) or motivate them with offers such as free wifi, (partial) payment of their cell phone bills, or making business cell phones available.
There are employees who don't have a smartphone…
We recommend first analyzing how many employees do not have a smartphone. Usually, there are very few. For these, the content of the streams could be played on slideshows on screens in the staff restaurant, in break rooms or the changing rooms. That way, they could still keep up to date via these "digital bulletin boards." Further, one could introduce a "godfather/godmother" system, where younger/technology-savvy employees or the direct supervisors pass on certain relevant content to the person assigned to them.
We have a mobile phone ban…
Safety and hygiene always come first. If cell phones cannot be used during work (or parts of work) (e.g., due to vehicle use or machine operation), Beekeeper slideshows could be used. Further, for employees who cannot use their cell phones at work, 5 - 10 minutes could be scheduled during their shift for them to read news and messages in Beekeeper in a convenient location.
There are employees who are not so technology-savvy…
Most employees will be able to understand and use Beekeeper intuitively and without training. However, for the less technology-savvy employees, we recommend having certain instructions with them during the rollout that could be made available to them. The basis could be, for example, the Beekeeper Quick Start Guide or the Help Center. A "mentor" system is also suitable here, where younger/technology-savvy employees are assigned to a less technology-savvy person. Champions can also support them during the rollout. Optional Beekeeper training could also be offered after the rollout.
I don't want to receive push messages all the time…
No problem. Each employee can set her own notifications. On the one hand, each user can manage their push messages etc. within Beekeeper (More => Settings => Notifications), on the other hand, it is also possible to completely prohibit the Beekeeper app from sending you push messages in the general mobile settings.
Employees always have to read Beekeeper in their free time…
No one forces employees to read Beekeeper in their free time. Only they decide when to use Beekeeper. They also manage their notifications themselves and decide if and when they want to be notified. Of course, employees may also use Beekeeper during breaks, before or after work. However, this is voluntary. The more interesting and relevant the platform, the greater the chance that they will be willing to do so. It is important that the desired use of Beekeeper is communicated transparently. This can be done, for example, in the fair play rules, during the rollout and in the respective teams.
Work-Life-Balance…
With Beekeeper, you have the advantage that private and business matters are separated. Everything business-related runs via Beekeeper; Whatsapp etc. are only used privately. Beekeeper promotes the work-life balance, because with Beekeeper the employee decides for himself when he opens the app and when not.
Employees will only be on their mobile phones…
Don't worry. With Beekeeper, there is not more information, but it is simply better channeled. And there's not so much going on on Beekeeper that new messages would flutter in every few minutes... And even if there were - they will hardly be so urgent that they have to be read immediately.
Again an additional communication channel?
The idea is that Beekeeper replaces certain other channels and tools, and that employees receive their information more easily and efficiently via Beekeeper. It is important that the topic of differentiation from other "tools/channels" is precisely discussed, defined and communicated in the implementation project. The clearer employees know which tool and channel is for what, the better they will know how to use them.
Not all employees have unlimited data in their subscription or unlimited storage space…
No problem. Beekeeper is optimized to consume as little data and memory as possible. More information can be found in this Help Center article.
Employees are afraid that we will monitor them with Beekeeper…
Beekeeper is not a surveillance tool and the privacy of employees is guaranteed. The boss or the admin cannot look into the chats of other users. There is also no GPS tracking, which can be used to track which employee is where at any given time. Beekeeper also only accesses the elements on the private devices that are selected by the employees. More information on the "Your Privacy" OnePager.
Bullying on Beekeeper…
is a workplace application and should not result in bullying of any kind. With Beekeeper, the advantage is that it is a business app and therefore even more controllable than a private platform. Our customers rarely find themselves needing to police the content and behavior within Beekeeper. If this topic is of concern, please know that the FairPlay rules can be customized to support language around bullying and that you have the ability to moderate content as an administrator should something be posted inappropriately in a Stream.
