Summary:
1. Goals should be SMART
2. Certain goals can be measured using the Platform Analytics, others must be measured otherwise
3. Goals should be set for the rollout, but also long-term goals (the added value of Beekeeper should increase over time)
4. Important KPIs are e.g. activation and weekly active users.
Goals and KPI’s
Goals always should be SMART:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Relevant
- Time-Based
While qualitative goals can be measured with surveys or qualitative conversations, quantitative goals can be measured with KPI's on and off the platform.
The idea of Beekeeper is that the added value of the platform increases over time. Therefore, we distinguish between rollout KPI's and long-term KPI's:
Rollout KPI’s
To measure the success of the rollout, rollout KPI's should be defined and measured x days/weeks (e.g. 4 or 8 weeks) after the rollout. Here are possible KPI's:
On the platform:
- % Activation
- % Daily, weekly and monthly active users (DAU, WAU & MAU)
- % Reading vs. contributing users
- Benchmarking between groups & locations
- Content analysis
- # Forms filled out
- # Ideas received
- Survey with point scale: First impression of Beekeeper
- Etc.
Outside the platform:
- Obtaining feedback for optimisation measures in qualitative conversations
- % Detractors were consulted in person and do not harm the project
- # Employees without smartphones have an alternative solution.
Long-term KPI’s
To ensure that Beekeeper generates more and more value over time, it is important that goals are also set for a second, third, etc. phase. Here are possible KPI's for measuring long-term success:
On the platform:
- % Activation
- % Daily, weekly and monthly active users (DAU, WAU & MAU)
- % Reading vs. contributing users
- Benchmarking between groups & locations
- Content analysis
- # Forms filled out
- # Ideas received
Outside the platform:
- $ Cost savings
- # Time savings
- % Employee satisfaction
- # Accidents
- % Employee turnover.
Here an example of how KPI’s can be defined and evolved over time:
We recommend that you clearly define your rollout KPIs and also start thinking about how they should develop over time.
The most important KPIs are certainly the % activation (activation / licenses) and the % weekly active users (WAU) / activated users. The % activation tells how many users have logged in to Beekeeper at least once. The % Weekly Active Users tells how many of the logged in users return to Beekeeper on a regular basis.
What should your % activation and % weekly active users be after the rollout?
For the formulation of your Goals / KPI’s you can use the Positioning and Goals Template.
